This is probably due to the automatic reloading of
your previous project, either the timeline, or the DVD editor, or both.
The automatic reloading of the last project adds convenience
and saves some manual work.
However, those auto reloading operations could become painfully slow
if your previous work involved a large number of files;
or files store on a slow storage device such as DVD disc,
or external (or network) storage with a slow I/O channel (or connection);
or files that require external codec (DirectShow filter) which
usually take more time to load.
You can turn off all those automatic reloading
via the optional controls on the
Options (F10) window's Timeline tab.
1. Stop the automatic reloading of the last timeline project.
- press F10 to open the Options
- press the Timeline tab (the 2nd from the left)
- clear the check box for
"Reload last project at start."
for which the default is checked.
2. Stop the automatic reloading of the last DVD project.
- press F10 to open the Options
- press the DVD tab (the 1st one from the right)
- clear the check box for
"Reload last project at start."
for which the default is checked.
3. Stop the automatic reloading of the Input monitor.
- press F10 to open the Options
- press the Monitor tab (the 3rd from the left)
- clear the check box for
"Save the Input Monitor state at exit, and restore it at next start."
for which the default is cleared.
